Description

Somewhere in a small chinese village...
You see a young Kung Fu master practicing his skills.

The "cam" is not eye to eye, it is floating slightly above the character, lens is close so FOV kicks in. He might be jumping of floating catching up with you.

Image done in Open canvas 1, colour adjustments and finishing in Photoshop 5.5. Work done in about 48 hours.
For the character i used a mirror as ref (looking at my self)

Work done for private purpose (fun) i hold all copyrights.

Here is the final Image, some detail views and a rough step by step.

@ kittyKat
Thank you! I come from germany, moved to Thailand, in Bangkok now. By the end of the Year i will move again, to china.
I found a link to this site somewhere... dunno

@ Azurelle
Is my hand. I always use my hands as ref, on male characters is easier so i don't have to change details, just paint it as it is, unless it is a male orc or something

Well you've wandered over here. I love your works, I commented on this particular one already at CGtalk and have nothing to add to that comment... so basically I've stopped by to oogle some more at you.

This in my opinion is your best piece based off of the hands alone *drool*

The subjects not to my taste just because I'm not into all this Kung Fuey stuff...but the technique is faultless and worth my max alone.

Ah Randis, so YOU'RE the kung fu dude. I was a huge fan of your first two postings here mate, and i saw this one over at cgtalk and loved it. Did you study art anywhere or are you self taught? Because your use of colour intrigues me :) 9/9

Awesome work!

The lighting is especially amazing.

The ground is easily the lesser part as it
misses some details
Maybe it's me but I think the perspective of the left
building is slightly off:p

I have two predictions:

your three works posted so far will all end in top 3
You will get elite status immediately

Keep em coming,

we are in awe

some of the best foreshortening! this is really beautiful! the background and foreground blend seamlessly and each are wonderful! I love the hands and the arms! They are so sexy (and i mean that in the least girly way, i just cant think of a more descriptive word for how sleek they are!)
The clothing design is also amazing and does not go unnoticed! Im really loving the flow of it towards the bottom.
Again, love the BG! It really puts me there!
...okay i think im done....

Love it! Composition is perfect, and I love the subtle fogging in the background. The details and texture on the clothes interest my a lot, having had recent struggles with that sort of thing myself in PS, and the folds and satin effect on the cloth at the bottom of the pic just make my mouth water! And thanks so much for postings the step by steps and details as well, it all helps the rest of us to get a little closer to perfection (I wish!)

I was thinking... you know... I haven't commented on any of Andre's art! Even though I've seen them on CGS, ConceptArt, Epilogue and here!

This is a bit crazy as I really like your work! In fact, I've been admiring your work for years - before I even started digital myself. You were one of the most talented digital artists I'd seen, and I'm glad to say you've improved a lot since then!

This one is awesome. I particulary like the extra spirit arms!

Max points! Keep it up dude! (thumbup) ;)

P.s. Your old tutorial is still listed in the tutorials section here! (I think it was linked to Visual God though - so it probably doesnt work any more)

This is a really good piece of art! The character's skin somewhat lacks fresh colour tones to bring it more to life, but that is about all I have to complain about. The anatomy looks, good, but what I like most of all is the concept with the blue arms.

Also, thanks for posting the details and the step-by-step.
