Description

finished some new painting in my free time. Took me altogether about 3 almost sleepless days.
I took a ref shot for that one and made a 3d model of the box and the hook in the lower right corner.

The painting part was done in OC1, then in CS3 i created some textures for the floor, walls and wood and adjusted the colors and contrast.

i guess even though you used 3d and so on, this seems pretty realistic which is great. i really feel pleased by the way you draw/paint the hands.

wow a perfect composition, you've pulled off the horrified facial expression successfully, which is very hard to achieve. and i also like the crisp painting technique with all the great details, the fabrics of the killer's pants in particular, great job all around. also a captivating palette :)

and the tectures of course, which i forgot to mention +10

Fantastic work, Randis!
I love illustrations that tell a story in a single shot. Everything's very impressive in there. The light at butcher's back and its contrast with the darkness behind the gate is perfect; also the blazing effect of the blade is awesome. Everything is positive in this painting. The only thing that I don't like (personally, of course) is the mixture of a traditional technique (oil-like paint) and an obvious CG rendering (floor and hooks). I repeat: this piece is WONDERFUL! Keep it up!

Good to see you around again mate :) I saw this work over at cgtalk, but it didn't click who the artist was In my opinion this is almost flawless, an excellent addition to your gallery. Your work is something that always energizes my creative core - i always feel like running off and drawing or painting when i see this kind of work... Looking forward to more work man!!

Reminds me of classic paintings like carravagio's, really good. Great technique, but most important, it stimulates the mind into participating in the scene ;)
