wow a perfect composition, you've pulled off the horrified facial expression successfully, which is very hard to achieve. and i also like the crisp painting technique with all the great details, the fabrics of the killer's pants in particular, great job all around. also a captivating palette and the tectures of course, which i forgot to mention +10

Fantastic work, Randis! I love illustrations that tell a story in a single shot. Everything's very impressive in there. The light at butcher's back and its contrast with the darkness behind the gate is perfect; also the blazing effect of the blade is awesome. Everything is positive in this painting. The only thing that I don't like (personally, of course) is the mixture of a traditional technique (oil-like paint) and an obvious CG rendering (floor and hooks). I repeat: this piece is WONDERFUL! Keep it up!
